Arnold Bros. Survival Store

Pocket-sized fire-starting kits created by young entrepreneurs with an interest in practical outdoor skills.

In Charlie’s Own Words

Small Kits for Big Adventures

“My business sells Fire-Starting Kits. They can fit in your pocket. Inside is charcloth, which is cloth that is charred over a fire and can light very easily with a spark from a ferro rod, and jute twine. The charcloth will not actually flame, but it will glow and you can light the jute twine with it if you pull the twine apart. Then you can light cardboard very easily with it. You can also light paper or little twigs and dry leaves. You can get it without the Ferro rod if you just want to get the charcloth and jute twine. I make the ferro rods, and you can get them in different colors.”

What’s Inside?

Charlie’s compact kits bring together the materials needed to learn how the fire-starting process works. Each kit includes charcloth and jute twine, with the option to add one of the ferro rods he makes himself.

Charcloth is fabric that has been charred so it can catch a spark easily. Instead of producing an immediate flame, it begins to glow. That glowing material can then be used to ignite jute twine that has been pulled apart into fine fibers.

Once the jute catches, it can help light other dry tinder such as paper, cardboard, small twigs or dry leaves. Shoppers may choose a complete kit with a ferro rod or purchase the charcloth and jute twine without one.

Make It Your Own

Charlie makes the ferro rods with cord-wrapped handles in a variety of colors, giving shoppers the chance to choose one that fits their own style.

Business Review

The Macaroni KID Take

Why We Love Arnold Bros. Survival Store

Two young entrepreneurs assemble Arnold Bros. fire-starting kits at a wooden table, placing materials into small metal tins and preparing product packaging.

We love that Arnold Bros. Survival Store combines entrepreneurship with practical, hands-on learning. These young makers are not simply placing supplies in a tin: they understand what each material does, can explain how the pieces work together and add their own creativity by making ferro rods in different colors.

That combination of knowledge, craftsmanship and customer choice is exactly what the Kidpreneurs Fair is all about. The kits offer shoppers something compact and useful while giving the Arnold Bros. an opportunity to turn an outdoor interest into a thoughtfully developed business. Just remember that fire-starting tools always require responsible adult supervision and proper fire-safety practices.
