Harrisburg Artsfest 2026
Saturday, May 23 through Monday, May 25, 2026 | Riverfront Park, Harrisburg
Harrisburg Artsfest returns to Riverfront Park for Memorial Day Weekend with three days of art, music, food trucks, Kidsfest, community projects, and enough handmade creativity to make you briefly believe you, too, could become “a pottery person.”
One of Central PA’s signature festivals, Artsfest transforms downtown Harrisburg’s riverfront into a giant outdoor celebration of creativity featuring more than 170 juried artists and craftsmen from across the country, plus live entertainment, family activities, Jazzfest, HBGFest powered by the HBG Flea, and plenty of snacks to sustain your family through multiple “just one more booth” detours.

Top Picks for Families
Kidsfest
Kidsfest brings hands-on family fun into the middle of Artsfest with activities designed specifically for younger visitors. It helps balance out the very real reality that small children can only politely admire handcrafted jewelry for so long before needing to touch something immediately.
Parent hack: Start with Kidsfest early before little legs burn out from wandering the full festival footprint.
170+ Artists & Handmade Finds
Artsfest features artists and makers from across the country selling handcrafted work in categories including ceramics, jewelry, photography, sculpture, woodworking, painting, fiber arts, mixed media, glass, and more.
Parent hack: Give kids a small “festival budget” to pick one special handmade item. It turns browsing into a treasure hunt instead of a marathon of “please don’t touch that.”
Food Trucks, Festival Snacks & Riverfront Picnic Energy
Artsfest features more than 25 food trucks plus classic festival snacks and downtown dining nearby. Between the river views and open park space, this is peak “grab food and collapse on a blanket for twenty minutes while your kids recover emotionally from walking.”
Parent hack: Bring a picnic blanket or lightweight chairs. Riverfront Park is huge, and having a reset zone is elite-level festival parenting.
Live Music, Jazzfest & Riverfront Vibes
Live entertainment happens throughout the weekend, including Jazzfest performances and other music acts spread across the festival footprint. The result feels less like a formal art show and more like an entire city collectively deciding to enjoy spring at maximum volume.
Parent hack: Build in downtime by the stage areas. Kids often reset better with music, snacks, and a little open space to wiggle.

Tips for Visiting with Kids
- Wear good walking shoes. Riverfront Park is large and your feet will absolutely notice.
- Bring a stroller or wagon for little kids. Even confident walkers eventually become “carry me” philosophers.
- Use the ADA shuttle if needed. A free accessible shuttle runs between City Island and the festival area.
- Pack sunscreen and water. Much of the festival is outdoors along the riverfront.
- Go early for easier parking and lighter crowds. Especially if visiting with younger children.
- Expect sensory stimulation. Music, crowds, food smells, artists, and activity booths can be a lot for some kids. Build in breaks.
- Take your time. Artsfest is best experienced as a wander, not a speedrun.
