That Time I Planned a Tiny Egg Hunt and Accidentally Invited All of Central Pennsylvania 🥚
The Origin Story
So... here’s the thing. This was still my first year as a Macaroni KID publisher. I was still figuring it all out. You know... baby steps. I thought, “Hey, I’ll plan a little egg hunt. Just a chill, low-key gathering for my homeschool and cyber school crew. Maybe ten families, tops. A cute Thursday afternoon thing. Keep it small, keep it simple.”
I intentionally picked a Thursday because I figured most kids would be in school. I’d get my feet wet. Dip a toe in the egg-filled waters.
Three hours after I opened registration? BOOM. Over 100 families. Slam the brakes. Hit the panic button.
Watch Last Year’s Vibes
If you need a visual for “this got real, fast,” here you go.
Design by rachael benionIt’s More Than an Egg Hunt. It’s Our Village.
What happened next was the most Macaroni KID thing ever. Families showed up. Friends pulled friends. Businesses asked how they could help. And suddenly it wasn’t just “an egg hunt.” It was a very real snapshot of the village we’re building together across Central PA.
Which is exactly why, after last year’s registration exploded from “25-ish kids” to “more than 500 humans with baskets,” we knew we needed more space. More room to breathe. More room to play. More room for the magic.
Big News: We’re Partnering with The Vineyard at Hershey
This year, we’re thrilled to announce our partnership with The Vineyard at Hershey for our community egg hunt. The setting is beautiful, the space is right, and it gives us room to grow this event into what it was clearly destined to become... a full-blown spring celebration for our Macaroni Village.
And yes... we promise to plan for 500+ this time. We’ve learned. Mostly. 😂
What’s Next?
Registration details, activity highlights, and all the nitty-gritty logistics are coming soon. For now, mark your calendar, tell a friend, and prepare your household for the annual search for tiny plastic eggs in places that defy physics.
