There are holiday events that are fun, and then there are holiday events that matter. The Visit With Santa nights at The Fancy Unicorn and The Firehouse Library fall firmly into the second category.
This event is warm. It is gentle. It is cozy and magical and kid centered in every way. But what makes it truly special is the intention behind it.
Event organizer Carissa R. shared the heart of her mission in one beautiful sentence:
"Our main goal is to provide black/brown and transracial families the opportunity to take their kiddos to a Santa who looks like them."
This is the soul of the event. Representation is not a buzzword here. It is the point. Carissa and her team understand how powerful it is for children to see themselves reflected in someone as iconic as Santa. Holiday joy should belong to everyone. This event makes sure that it does.
What to Expect: A Warm, Low Stim, Storybook Evening
Families enter through The Fancy Unicorn Boutique, step upstairs to The Firehouse Library, and suddenly find themselves in a North Pole hideaway that feels soft and glowing and a little bit enchanted.
There is no pressure. No frantic lines. No overwhelming noise.
Instead, families can enjoy:
- Holiday crafts to make on site or take home
- Hot cocoa and dye free candy canes
- Photo opportunities in a calm, cozy atmosphere
- Santa handing out coloring books
- A quiet environment that works beautifully for sensory needs
Storytime takes place at 5:15 and 6:45 each night. Families simply choose the time block that matches the storytime they prefer. Sensory friendly accommodations are available upon request.
Two Evenings. One Ticket Per Family. Donation Based.
This event uses a donation model with a suggested donation of ten dollars, but families are encouraged to pay what they can. Only one ticket is required per family.
Carissa and her team want this experience to feel accessible to everyone. The focus is community, not cost.
