We came for the wings and bubbles, stayed for the Irish music, and somehow left with Girl Scout cookies and three new best friends. (As one does in fairyland.)
The cast
- River (almost 4): Monarch-winged, craft-obsessed, fearless owl whisperer.
- Raina (the fairy babe): Professional bubble chaser who took a power nap in the carrier, then popped awake the second the Irish tunes started. Same, girl.
- Mom: Carrying feelings and a fully charged camera.
- Moss Child: New fan favorite. My husband saw the photos and said, “Is that just a ghillie suit with googly eyes?” Sir. Please respect the forest spirits.
Festival highlights
- Music & moments: A porch-side guitarist serenaded the smallest fairies, and the Irish set turned the whole garden into a jig-ready dance floor. Raina literally perked up mid-nap like a woodland alarm clock.
- Make-believe stations: Trinket trading, crafts, and tiny treasures galore. River worked the “magical marketplace” like a seasoned pixie shopkeeper.
- Creatures great & small: We met raptors up close (River’s heart is now part owl), waved to mermaids, and found whimsical woodland beings tucked along the paths.
- Face paint & sparkle: The artistry was next level — enough shimmer to light a small village.
- Snacks of destiny: We bought treats on site. Special love to the lentil BBQ — a returning favorite from last year that absolutely slaps. Plus, Girl Scout cookies for dessert because fairies look out for parents.
What we loved most
- The vibe is equal parts whimsical and welcoming. Kids are invited to play, not just pose.
- Everything is scaled for little hands but interesting enough for grownups who enjoy a good dose of wonder.
- It’s the kind of event where you arrive strangers and leave swapping photos and cookie recommendations with the family next to you.
Pro tips for next year
- Wings are optional; comfy shoes are not.
- Bring a small tote for crafts and treasures.
- If you meet Moss Child, do not call him “Mr. Ghillie.” He has moss-ical feelings.
- Save room for the lentil BBQ. Trust me.
Final sparkle
The music, the make-believe, the new friends, and yes, the cookies — pure enchantment. River left with paint on her face, dirt on her dress, and stars in her eyes. Raina left humming jigs in her sleep. And I left already planning next year’s wings.
